Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged athletes from across the globe to help spread awareness about yoga beyond the World Yogasana Championship.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday slammed US President Donald Trump for imposing 50% tariffs on Indian goods, calling it “bullying by the buffoon-in-chief”.
He also took a sharp swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that Modi “doesn’t care even if tariff hurts” Indian exporters and industries.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray slams PM Modi
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday criticised PM Modi over his recent remark claiming farmers are the government’s “top priority”, calling it hypocritical in light of the 2020–21 farmers’ protest.
Thackeray recalled how protesting farmers were blocked from entering Delhi, some even lost their lives, and the government remained indifferent at the time.
“You didn’t remember the farmers then. Now suddenly they matter?” Thackeray said, accusing the Centre of only now showing concern under pressure.
He further said the government’s “falsehoods” are gradually being exposed, remarking, “Everyone now claims to be a farmer’s son. That means their fathers were the ones on hunger strike, beaten, blocked from Delhi, called Naxals. Their lies are unravelling, and their true face is being revealed.”
PM Modi’s response after Trump put 50% tariffs
PM Modi on Thursday asserted that India will “never compromise on the interests of farmers, fishermen, and dairy producers,” following Trump’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods.
PM Modi says, “For us, the interest of our farmers is our top priority. India will never compromise on the interests of farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers. I know personally, I will have to pay a heavy price for it, but I am ready for it. Today, India is ready for the country’s farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers

Trump puts additional 25 % tariffs
In a major blow to India’s trade interests, President Trump on Wednesday announced an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods, effective August 27. This comes on top of a similar 25% tariff declared last week, further escalating trade tensions between the two countries.
During last week’s announcement, Trump had also warned of possible penalties against India over its continued purchases of Russian energy and defence equipment.
India has strongly condemned the move, calling it “unjustified and unreasonable,” and has accused both the United States and the European Union of selectively targeting New Delhi for maintaining trade relations with Russia.
